President Jagdeo went out on a limb and shocked the international community by endorsing US presidential candidate Barak Obama. Obama later went on to defeat war hero and long time senator John McCain to become the America’s first black president.

Barak Obama does not fit the typical characteristics of past US president. Obama father is a Kenyan Muslim, hence Obama’s Muslim name. Never before have there been an African-American president in the Whitehouse and Obama was struggling in some key battle ground states until President Jagdeo endorsement. After the endorsement, Obama went on to win the presidential election with ease.

Neither President Obama nor President Jagdeo was available for comments at the time of this article.

CGID has members

CGID has members according to founding member and group leader Rickford Burke. Burke took offense after the group was called a one man org and within a stunning three hours produced two additional members, which including himself brings total membership of the group to a whopping three members.

CGID and it’s three members is currently ranked 13th out of around 180 in membership among Guyanese groups and is thrice as large as 134 of those groups. Although Guyana is a small country with a tiny population there is no shortage of political and social groups.

CGID member Sarafina Pekkala states she is very proud to be part of such a powerful political group and it’s a pleasure for her to work alongside founding member and group fearless leader Burke, while the other group member Lee Scoresby was a nag, always asking when he will be getting his $5 and kept scratching his elbow and the side of his face.

There are rumors that CGID might be getting another member soon, however speculative this is exciting news for the group. With four members the group might loose its political watchdog status and officially becoming a political party.

Ed Leber
